Not only do Attorneys, Chartered Accountants, Financial Planners and Insurance Brokers use our services, but so does the “man-on-the-street”, for the time consuming and labour-intensive process associated with winding up deceased Estates.

Although we are based in Pietermaritzburg, we wind up deceased estates throughout South Africa, and our services span international borders.
OUR SERVICES
DECEASED ESTATES
Executors of Estates – we take charge of the entire administration process and wind up the Estate in the capacity of the appointed Executor.

Assist Nominated Executors – we assist the appointed Executors with the winding up of the Estate. Our approach is the same as if we were appointed as the Executor. We take charge of the entire administration process and wind up the Estate using a Special Power of Attorney signed by the Executor in our favour.

Represent Heirs – we assist aggrieved Heirs by liaising with the Executors on their behalf.
ESTATE
PLANNING
Through consultation with the clients, using the client’s current statement of assets and liabilities for their worldwide estate, we do a mock estate duty calculation to identify red flags. These could include estate liquidity, where specific bequests are not able to be met without selling estate assets, or where there is insufficient liquidity to meet estate costs and taxes. It can also be used to identify inequalities in heirs’ inheritance, and feeds into a review and updating of the planner’s Last Will and Testament.

We draft Wills which govern the client’s worldwide estate. If we have done an estate planning exercise, we are able to do a completeness check to ensure all the assets from the statement of assets and liabilities are dealt with in the Will according to the planner’s wishes. We ensure that critical elements are covered, like the appointment of guardians for minor children.

MASTER’S OFFICE ENQUIRIES
We assist individuals and companies with Master’s office searches and investigations, applications for certified copies for use in South Africa and for use outside South Africa (by foreign Executors and Probate Solicitors).
TRUSTS
Registration of Trusts – we assist with registering Family Trusts and Property Trusts with the Master of the High Court and in obtaining the Letters of Authority.

Trust Amendments – we prepare the documents necessary to give effect to changes to Trust Deeds.
​
Trustee Changes – we prepare the documents necessary to give effect to the removal, assumption, appointment, and/or resignation of Trustees and obtain new Letters of Authority from the Master of the High Court.

Trustees of Trusts – in certain specific circumstances, we accept appointment as a Trustee of a Trust.
MEET THE TEAM
Jenni Kitching
Jenni is a registered Chartered Accountant (SA), with 20 years’ experience as a Trusted Business Advisor to high-net-worth individuals, their families and family businesses. She took over as the managing member of J V HART CC on 1 February 2021, and is able to draw on her experience to provide high quality services to our clients.
​
Jenni is empathetic to those suffering loss, and is respectful to the needs of the family and heirs when administering deceased estates. She brings her accounting and tax knowledge, including extensive trust experience, to her clients, which enables her to provide broader advice when winding up deceased estates, providing estate planning services and drafting Wills.
Jenni has completed all the Financial Services Board examinations appliable to the services rendered, and is the Nedbank Corporate Saver manager for the J V HART CC.

Jenni applies characteristics of openness and transparency, ethics, honesty, integrity and trustworthiness in her dealings with her clients and in running the business. She prides herself in providing an exceptional level of service to her clients.
Kate Guiot
Kate is the Estates Manager with 10 years’ experience in this field. She manages the Estates team and applies her skillset to focus on the labour-intensive administrative procedures associated with winding up deceased Estates. She is proactive, productive, efficient and passionate in her approach to winding up deceased estates.

Kate has exceptional relationships with various Master’s offices throughout South Africa, which puts the Company in the excellent position of being able to expedite the winding up of the deceased Estates. Kate also assists Jenni with Trust changes.
Kate is professional, proactive, a stickler for detail, friendly, empathetic and efficient.
Alisha Jetu
Alisha attends to Reception duties and assists Jenni and Kate with various aspects of Deceased Estates administration.
